The founding religion editor at Publishers Weekly, Phyllis Tickle (1934-2015) was a publisher, the author of more than 40 books on faith, and a leading voice in the Emerging Christianity movement, not to mention being the mother of seven children. She also found time to compile a small but choice body of poetry, all of which is collected here. Intensely personal and plainspoken, the poems include "The Hymns of Hymen," "Memphis at Mid-Century," "Solstice, 1974," "Thunderbolt Island," "The Cranes," "View from the Bedroom Window," and "Medusa Quietly Screaming."
