Paintings of birds and flowers became so popular in 10th century China, they were recognized as their own genre. The image on these petite notecards was painted on silk by an unknown artist in the much-emulated style of Ma Quan, an early 18th century artist who used delicate color and fine brushwork to capture the essence of her subjects. The set of ten cards includes white envelopes.
