British architect Owen Jones was a master of ornament, applying elaborate yet meaningful decoration to his designs. Along with The Grammar of Ornament (which is still studied by designers today), Jones published One Thousand and One Initial Letters in 1864, and from that book come the extra-fancy capital letters in this memory game. There are 26 pairs of letters for prereaders to match up, printed on 2½-inch cardboard tiles and packaged in a chunky box. The set also includes a booklet comparing Jones's fancy letters with his simplest.
