Sometimes you can go home again, and here at last Fannie Flagg takes us back to the much-loved town of Whistle Stop, Alabama. Bud Threadgoode grew up there, raised by his church-going mother Ruth and his hellraising Aunt Idgie. Together they ran the cafe, known for its barbecue and its fried green tomatoes, until the railyards shut down and the town was boarded up. Then one day Bud decides to take a final trip back to Whistle Stop, just to show it to his daughter Ruthie and relive the memories. Along the way he discovers new friends, finds some surprises about Idgie's life and about Ninny Threadgoode, and sets off a series of events that will change his life, his daughter's, and many others.
