In 1829, bookseller Samuel Leigh produced a hand-colored, 60-foot panorama of both banks of the River Thames between Westminster and Richmond, along with another that captures the City and Southbank as seen from the Old Adelphi buildings in the Strand. Together, they offer fascinating views of central London and the riverside villages, before industrialization transformed Georgian Britain. This book reproduces these very appealing images alongside texts identifying the sights and commenting on their history, and the book includes an impressive four-page fold-out as well.
