Flying all over town, Crow asks friends for items they no longer need, and so he is able to present Sebastian with a ball of yarn, a soda can, a construction cone, and a fire extinguisher. At first the gifts seem like junk, but then the duo puts the items to a remarkably imaginative use. With his stylized illustrations, Venezuelan illustrator Jose Medina uses a creative palette—green Sebastian is in a purple woods—to make this story of friendship all the more novel and unexpected.
