|Olivier Vernet, organ|
|Pages/Publication Date:||67 / 2003|
Although J.S. Bach was never an amateur as a composer, this anthology of his youthful works for solo organ provides an opportunity to appreciate his singular talent at the outset of his career. A first prize winner at the 1991 International Organ Competition at Bordeaux, Olivier Vernet won the Diapason d'Or for his recordings of Bach's complete works for organ, of which this disc is part. The 27 selections here include the Prelude and Fughetta in F Major, BWV'01; Prelude and Fugue in A Minor, BWV 559; and Fughetta in C Minor, BWV'61, along with works of considerable quality originally attributed to the master, but whose authorship is actually unknown.
