Joining her sister for a muchneeded holiday on the island of Corfu, amateur actress Lucy is intrigued to find that their neighbor is the reclusive Sir Julian Gale, once one of the brightest lights in England's theatrical world. But the sun-drenched idyll does not last long, in Mary Stewart's 1964 thriller; Lucy meets Gale's composer son, Max, as he is attempting to shoot a dolphin, and later finds that he limits access to his famous father. When the body of a young man connected to the Gales' family washes up on the beach, Lucy is swept up in a chilling chain of events.
